When is the next wave of mobile media revolution?

Steve jobs, who was once kicked out of Apple Inc. publicly and then came back when Apple Inc. was facing serious problems, wrote in his resignation letter that ‘I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.’

When that day came, no one was sure if Apple could continue creating mobile media legend.

Seteve Jobs reimagined what the smartphone could be and ushered the first iPhone in June, 2007. Before iPhone came to the world, Nokia, Samsung and Motorola were dominated the phone market for its fashionable exteriors. However, Steve Jobs, who deemed creativity as the reason of life would not satisfy the performance of handsets. Under the lead of Steve Jobs, Apple started to gather a team of 1000 employees to work on the highly confidential “ Project Purple”, which later created iPhone. The iPhone inspired a generation of copycats, and totally changed the game for mobile hardware and software.

Not only iPhone inherited the amazing design that only Apple products possess, but also installed the iOS operating system, which was the key element that could make iPhone innovated mobile media.

iOS is a mobile operating system developed and distributed by Apple Inc. originally unveiled in 2007 for the iPhone, now it has been extended to support other Apple devices , such as iPod, iPad and iPad Mini. The user interface of iOS is based on the concept of direct manipulation, using multi-touch gestures. Before iPhone landed, mobile media had existed for years, but the contents that could be displayed on users’ mobile phones were limited. The first truly viable mobile advertising medium is the availability of using iOS on iPhones.

With iOS operating system, 1) more Ad space is available now. Apple developers can incorporate ads into its applications. Besides, searching engines have more rooms for more paid advertisements. 2) Soft wares, like Youtube and Facebook and be downloaded through App store, numerous advertising opportunities are available with the popular use of Youtube and Facebook. 3) There is a chance that Passbook could be a trend. If it catches on, it could bring more opportunities for companies to connect with consumers through one-time coupons. All the possibilities are coming with the landing of iOS operating system.

However, when the iPhone changed behaviors of consumers, no matter in terms of people’s daily life or people doing business, it changed the way retailers interacting with customers on mobile media at the same time.

Steve Jobs has undoubtedly had a profound impact on the entire mobile system. When he resigned as the CEO of Apple Inc., does it mean Apple stopped being the creator of the legend of mobile system from then on?

A few months after iPhone 5 was released by the current CEO, Tim Cook, iOS system and Mac OS system developer, Scott Forstall, was fired by Tim Cook for he thought Forstall was not a good team player. Tim Cook thinks Apple’s innovation stems from highly collaboration. But Forstall is kind of like Jobs, full of individualism, and rarely people can work with him. As the CEO of Apple Inc., Tim Cook can decide whom he can fire, however, he could not control the Apple stock fell down because of Forstall’s left.

What’s the performance of the Apple that is under the leadership of Tim Cook now? iPhone 5 has drawn much of criticism for its lack of substantial changes from the prior generation. Apple map are full of mistakes for its new exploration and immature characteristics but urgent release. What else is like Siri is used to make fun by people.

Who can be a legend creator? A creative team leader or an excellent engineer? or a creative team leader who knows how to rein his suborators works with excellent engineers? When is the next wave of mobile media revolution? Can Cook with his harmony team that is considered by himself create another legend? What the public evaluate iPhone 5S and 5C after Tim Cook’s boring presentation? Or Steve Jobs’ pass away is the destiny of the Apple’s fallen and the sign of long years waiting before next “Jobs” appear?
